RULES

1.  The league shall be governed by a Committee consisting of a Chairman, Hon Secretary, and Hon Treasurer, all to be elected at the AGM, plus one representative from each of the teams.  Each team is to have one vote, with the Chairman having the casting vote (if necessary).

2.  Admission of new teams to be at the invitation of the Committee.  The entrance fee, of £15.00, is payable at the AGM.

3.  Each game to be played on a Monday evening.  Games to start PROMPTLY at 8.30 pm (if teams persistently start late then this must be addressed to the Committee), and played in one room.  Each league match to consist of 3 tables of 2 opposing pairs.  Each table to play a rubber of 5 legs.  Captains to draw opposing players.  The players will cut for box on each leg, the winner of the box dealing the cards.  Each leg to be played twice round, 121 holes.

4.  2 points will be awarded to the team winning the most legs, +½ point for every leg won.  (i.e. an 8-7 win, winner receives 2 points + 4=6, loser collects 3½).  Captains to be responsible for the good conduct of the games, and any COMPLAING MUST BE IN WRITING, WITHIN 5 DAYS OF THE MATCH BEING PLAYED, BY THE CAPTAIN, AND NOT BY INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS.

5.  If a side is unable to field a complete side of 6 players, it is possible to play with only 4, played on 2 tables with the 3rd table winning 5-0.  However the card should be marked accordingly, and if the offending side persists for a period exceeding 3 weeks, the League will have the power to dismiss them from the League.  Due care should be given to the team providing the sandwiches and a game called off at short notice will incur a fee of £10.

6.  It is the winning team's responsibility for the result card being received by the League Secretary.  Any team not sending in a card will lose 1 point.  A team can phone/email their result through if they think the card may be late.  This must be done by Thursday at the latest.  But a card must be received.

7.  Any side failing to produce a team for 2 consecutive matches may dismissed from the League, and all their matches declared void.

8.  Teams, and individuals, not members of the League are ineligible to compete for any League trophies.

9.  In the Captains, and individual, Knockout Cup games, the players will cut for box on each leg.  The loser of the box to peg 3 holes.  Each player is dealt 5 cards, each player to discard 2 cards into the box.  If a Jack is turned up the holder of the box to peg 2 holes (unless the holder requires 5 holes, or less, to finish the leg).  Each leg to be once round the board, 61 holes.  Matches to be the best of 3 legs.  The pair's Cup is to be played over 3 legs, twice round the board, 121 holes.

9a.  The Captain, or nominated Vice Captain (who is named at the start of the league), is the only person allowed to play in the Captains Competition.

9b.  The Landlord/Landlady, or Manager/Bar Steward(ess) for Clubs, is the only person able to play in the Landlords Cup.

10.  In the Billy King Memorial Singles, teams consist of 6 players.  Each player to play 6 games against the opposing team.  Home team to move.  Each game to be played according to normal League Rules, except 1 leg, once round the board.  If after all the games played the match is a draw, then the playing Captains (or nominated Captains for the evening), to play 1 game to decide the winner.

11.  Anything not dealt with within the rules must be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be final.

12.   When 2 or more teams finish level on points the higher place will be awarded to the one with the most games won. If this still results in a tie then the higher place will be given to the one with the most legs won. If the teams are still equal then the position will be decided with a play-off between the teams involved. Should  more than 2 teams tie then a Knock-out competition will be played, and the Committee will draw lots for who should play first (i.e. if 3 teams are equal then A v B, and the winner to play C), for the Title.

13.  ALL CARDS TO REMAIN FACEUP (IN ALL GAMES), UNTIL ALL POINTS HAVE BEEN PEGGED.

14.  If games have to be delayed then they must be played at least 3 weeks before the end of ther league season, i.e.11th March 2013.  But if the cancelled game is either of the last 2 League games, then this game must be played at least 4 weeks before Finals night, i.e. 25th March 2013.  If the team that cancels is unable to agree with the opposing team captain the revised date for the match, then the game will count as winning 8-0 (6 points).  The Secretary to liaise if necessary.
